Guide To Tearing Down A Shed

Are you going to tackle this problem on your own? Doing so won’t be easy, but some people prefer doing it on their own. If you fit into this category, you need to make sure that you have the right items. Besides manpower, you’re also going to need safety gear, pliers, a pry bar, and a drill. Grab the items in the list below before getting started.

  • Safety gears such as glasses, gloves, and boots
  • A hammer and pry bar
  • Pair of pliers and adjustable wrench
  • A broom to clean up the mess
  • A few tarps
  • A ladder
  • A battery-powered saw or handsaw
  • An electric drill

It also helps to have a wheelbarrow. You can use it to haul the components around. Once you’ve collected everything you need, follow the steps below.

  • First, you must disconnect electricity from the shed. Disconnect the power to ensure that nobody gets electrocuted during the cleanup process. Otherwise, someone could get seriously hurt.
  • Once the power has been disconnected, begin removing the windows. Remove any screws and carefully pry the window from the frame. Handle it carefully to avoid breaking the windows.
  • After the windows are removed, focus on the doors. You’ll need two people or more since the doors are going to be heavy. Close the door before using a hammer to take apart the hinge. Remove the door carefully so you don’t get hurt.
  • If the roof is still intact, you’ll need to raise it. Remove all the shingles. Once the roof is bare, start taking the frame apart. Remove the nails so the wood pieces can be removed.
  • Now, you must begin breaking through the walls. They’ll have to come down one way or another. You can use a handsaw or battery-powdered saw to take care of this step. Remember that there might be wires behind the drywall or panels. Work carefully to avoid problems.
  • With the walls gone, you must demolish the floor. It will be harder if you’re dealing with a concrete foundation. Either way, you’ll need to use a hammer and pry bar to destroy the floor.

Once the shed has been demolished, call our office. We can get rid of the remaining components for you.
